Many times it is required to customize JVM parameters for the purpose of performance tuning of ProactiveNet processes - "pronet_agent", jserver, rate, pronet_cnt. |
Legacy ID:KA301444 Each ProactiveNet process has its own custom configuration file and is used to build arguments for the JVM being run for these processes. The default configuration for them exists in directory "INSTALLDIR/pw/pronto/bin" and file names are "pnagent.conf", "pnrate.conf", "pnjserver.conf", "pnjservlet.conf", pnagentcntl.conf.
1. Copy the default version of file in directory pronto/conf ( pronto\conf in windows) that correspond to the process to custom directory INSTALLDIR/pw/custom/conf (INSTALLDIR\pw\custom\conf for windows).
2. Now edit the file and delete all the lines after the line with text ""#Fixed Section#". " and thus keep before it.
3. Now customize the desired entry(ies).
4. Restart the ProactiveNet application using command "pw system start".
If the process name is "pronet_agent" than it would be safe to restart only the agent process using command "pw p r pronet_agent" and in other cases it would be required to restart the whole ProactiveNet application.
Examples: - To increase MaxHeap value in a remote agent install, replace the value in entry "MaxHeap=256m" to desired value. To increase MaxHep value for local agent on ProactiveNet Server itself, replace the desired value in entry LOCMaxHeap=512m
Special: - Below is procedure to customize MaxHeap settings for process "services".
1. Edit the file /usr/pw/jboss/bin/run.conf and modify the value for Xmx in the lines defining the variable "JAVA_OPTS". (For windows OS the file path is "INSTALLDIR\ProactiveNet\pw\jboss\bin".
JAVA_OPTS="-server -Dservices=DUMMY -Xms128m -Xmx256m" if [ "x$JAVA_OPTS" = "x" ]; then
2. Restart ProactiveNet using command "pw system start".
