How to enable Debug FTS Plugin logs in ARSystem v8.x, v9.1 to v9.1.04?. |
This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers. Note: These steps have changed for 1805 and later versions. Only use these steps if using 8.x, 9.1 version up to 9.1.04. 1- Login to FTS Indexer server and browse to the following directory: <ARSystemInstallDirectory>\pluginsvr\fts\secondary\ 2- Open the 'log4j_pluginsvr.xml' file in a text editor. 3- Locate the following entry and change the 'level value' from "warn" to "debug". ............... <logger name="com.bmc.arsys.plugins.ftsplugin" additivity="false"> <level value="warn" /> <!-- use FTSLog as the appender for logging to the log file --> <appender-ref ref="FTSLog" /> </logger> ............... 4- Locate the following entry: ............... <appender name="FTSLog" class="org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender"> <param name="File" value="arfts.log" /> <param name="MaxFileSize" value="5MB"/> <!-- Keep two backups --> <param name="MaxBackupIndex" value="10"/> <layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout"> <param name="ConversionPattern" value="%d %-5p [%t] %C (%F:%L) - %m%n"/> </layout> </appender> ............... Change the 'param name="File"' entry so that it includes the filename "arftsplugin-searcher.log" as well as the full path to the file. For example: <param name="File" value="C:\BMC Software\ARSystem\arserver\db\arftsplugin-searcher.log" /> 5- Restart the Remedy AR Server, or terminate the Java process pointing to the 'fts' directory (the armonitor process will then automatically restart it) for the changes to take effect. Further details on restarting the Remedy AR Server can be found here: Starting and stopping the BMC Remedy AR System server 6- The following file will then be created: arftsplugin-searcher.log The file will be located in the directory: <ARSystemInstallDirectory>\ARSystem\Arserver\Db\ |
