TSIM upgrade or installation hangs on "Configuring and populating DB" screen on Linux environments Also seen is "Configuring DB components" |
This symptom is often seen when the csh shell doesn't exist on the OS. The csh shell is a requirement. Unfortunately, with how the installer runs, there is not a direct message about not finding csh. Be sure to review the AMIGO checklist: https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/TSOMD113/AMIGO+checklist+for+TrueSight+Operations+Management ####### Note that if you see "Starting the population of DB", then this is not an indicator of the csh missing (even if the installer appears to be frozen). If this is a new install, we generally expect it to complete in 45 minutes. Upgrades will take longer. The upgrade duration varies as it depends on the DB size & machine speed; 6+ hours for an upgrade with a 100gb DB is not unusual. Calling All TSOM Community Users: Feel free to share your completed upgrade duration, DB size, and machine specs. Future users will find this useful when setting maintenance windows. ####### |
