Reducing memory consumption of TrueSight Infrastructure Management (TSIM) by changing garbage collection settings
The memory consumption of TSIM can generally be reduced by changing the garbage collection settings.

This article explains how to change the garbage collection settings for the following TrueSight Infrastructure Management processes:
agent controller
jserver
rate
The effect of the changes will reduce the overall memory consumption of these processes.
1. Take a backup of the following files in the <install_dir>\pw\pronto\conf directory:
pnagentcntl.conf
pnjserver.conf
pnrate.conf

2. In each of the files pnagentcntl.conf, pnjserver.conf and pnrate.conf in <install_dir>\pw\pronto\conf directory, comment out the following lines:
Option=XX:+UseG1GC
Option=XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200
Option=XX:ParallelGCThreads=20
Option=XX:ConcGCThreads=5
Option=XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=70
Option=Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=300000
Option=Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=300000
They should now look like this:
#Option=XX:+UseG1GC
#Option=XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200
#Option=XX:ParallelGCThreads=20
#Option=XX:ConcGCThreads=5
#Option=XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=70
#Option=Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=300000
#Option=Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=300000
Then add the below lines immediately after the commented out lines:
Option=Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000
Option=Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=3600000
Save each of the files.

3. Restart TSIM.

* Note: The above is already implemented in version 11.3.02.
* Note: These changes are made in the #Fixed Section# of the conf file and the #Fixed Section# should not exist in the <install_dir>\pw\custom\conf versions of the files.
