Why would one not receive email from the TrueSight/BPPM server with subject ‘x BMC TrueSight/ProactiveNet Process is not running on <host> when the TSIM process is stopped? |
There would be no email because the process was manually stopped. When the process is manually stopped, the presumption is that the user/admin who stopped it is aware that they are stopping it and no notification is sent out. This is working as designed. The TSIM application will only generate email in the case where the TSIM/BPPM process crashes or is unexpectedly lost.. i.e. If you stop TSIM or BPPM process(s) manually using command ‘pw p e <process>’ or ‘pw sys stop’ then this will be treated as user driven action and not a failure so no email will be generated. To test this mechanism kill the TSIM process from the Task manager in Windows or use a ‘kill -9 <pid> in UNIX and verify that an email was received to indicate the TSIM process was not running email is sent as expected. |
