Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers. Oracle 12.2.0.1 released some additional security features. When installing AR System 9.1.02 / 9.1.03 the error: ........... ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol ........... appears when running installer which leads to believe Oracle 12.2.* is not compatible with current or previous versions of AR Server. When trying to establish a connection with ARAdmin via sqlplus it is done successfully. The defect: ................ SW00528955 - ORA-28040: No matching authentication protocol when running installer. Oracle 12.2.* is not compatible with current or previous versions of AR Server ................ was created and it has been found that this is not actually an issue with Remedy. Appears the Oracle sqlnet.ora in the Oracle Client and Oracle Database need to have the following parameter: SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_SERVER matching the same value in both places. Add in the sqlnet.ora the following: ..................... NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, ONAMES, HOSTNAME) SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_SERVER = 10 SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) ..................... The installer runs with success afterwards. Reference Oracle support Doc: 12c: ORA-28040 After Upgrade: No Matching Authentication Protocol (Doc ID 1957995.1) NOTE: The value of SQLNET.ALLOWED_LOGON_VERSION_SERVER may vary in some case. If 10 does not help to pass the error, try number from 9 to 11 (9, 10, 11) for Oracle 12 db. After making change in sqlnet.ora you may see errors: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied.
