When running arsrename utility the following error can be observed:

Enabling the arsrename utility logging in debug mode (article: Remedy - Server - How to enable debug logging for the arsrename utility ) the following full error message is observed recreating the same scenario:

Cause

Not enough memory allocated for the arsrename java process.

Solution

This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers.

As observed in the debug output and since the utility is reading data in a field, most likely some field on the last form referenced, has a diary field with a lot of data.
The way to proceed is by increasing the memory by editing the arsrename file using the -Xmx parameter for which the default is 1024m.

Locate the arsrename.bat in the AR System install dir\ARSystem\artools folder:
