License of Remedy Smart Reporting expire as follows:
  • Version 18.08 and below (based on Yellowfin build 7) expires on December 2020
  • Version 19.02 and above (based on Yellowfin build 8) expires on December 2021
It has been detected in some cases that after upgrading Smart Reporting from 19.08 to 20.02 the license is shown as expired.
License file is not updated during upgrade process
This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers.
 

Apply the new license file accordingly to the application version. The license files can be downloaded from BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website .

Follow next steps:

1. Access to EPD and search for any of the following product names:

  • Remedy AR System Server
  • In case "Remedy" products are not listed, search for BMC Helix IT Service Management OnPrem or BMC Helix ITSM OnPrem, expand the Available Components drop down list, and select Remedy AR System Server, 20.02.00. Refer to the below example:

2. Download the license file from EPD according to the product version:

  • License BMC Remedy Smart Reporting Version 7.x Perpetual for 18.08 and below.

  • License BMC Remedy Smart Reporting Version 8.x Perpetual for 19.02 and above.

3. Extract the license from the zip file downloaded from the EPD to a temporary location:

4. Log in to Remedy Smart Reporting using siadmin account into the Default organization through the application direct URL:

  • Bundled Tomcat: http(s)://SmartReporting_host:<port>
  • External Tomcat: http(s)://SmartReporting_host:<port>/SmartReporting

5. Navigate to Administration > Admin Console and click on Licence Management.

6. Click on Upload Licence to expand the options and click on the Browse button to select the license file downloaded on step 2.

7. Click on the Preview button to verify the new license information and click on the Submit button.

Note: If the message "Data population failed" appears, that means that the wrong license file was used. Make sure to use the corresponding license file as described in step 1.
