Currently there is no interface in Track-It! for configuring Directory Importer to pull from multiple directories or domains. This has been requested by several Track-It! customers.
Until an interface exists in Track-It! to support the importing from multiple domains, the following steps may be taken to accomplish this:

NOTE: Before following the instructions below, please make sure to close the Technician Client application.

Instructions:
  1. Close Technician Client.
  2. Open the following directory on the Track-It! server (default 32-bit):

  1. Create a backup copy of the Numara.TrackIt.Core.DirectoryImporter.xml or TrackIt.Core.DirectoryImporter.xml file.
  2. Open the original file with Notepad.
  3. Locate the following string in the "locationlist" section towards the top of the file:

  1. Highlight the line shown above and copy it to your clipboard (CTRL + C).
  2. Paste the new line (CTRL + V) above the original one so that you have two copies of the same line:

  1. Rename the new line's "location" tags to any desired value, such as "secondarydomain". For example, the entire "locationlist" section would appear like this...

  1. Save the XML file.
  2. Login to Technician Client and open the Administration Console.
  3. Under Administration -> Directory Importer, click on Directory Service.
  4. Overwrite the name of the original domain with the new one, or enter the LDAP information and credentials if needed.
  5. Click the Apply button.
  6. When selecting users or groups under the Selection/Licensing node, they will now be retrieved from the new domain or directory.
Now that this is configured, Directory Importer will continue to import and update user information from the directory services of both domains or directories.

To select users or groups from the originally configured domain, you must once again close the Technician Client application and edit the Numara.TrackIt.Core.DirectoryImporter.xml or TrackIt.Core.DirectoryImporter.xml file with Notepad so that the "location" entry is listed above the new one that was created.

For example...

When the Administration Console is re-opened, the original domain information will appear and the users and groups will be retrieved from that domain.

This is a known issue which has not yet been resolved in the current version of the product. Please contact Track-It! Support to open a new case which can be associated with the defect. Refer to Defect number:  1040942
