Remedy AR System v.9.x on SQL Server platform.
When upgrading AR system 9.x the installation log (arsystem_install_log.txt) is reporting ARERR 92 timeout errors: ........................ [Plugin registration failed for ARSYS.AREA.AREALDAP],Detail=[ERROR (8755): The specified plug-in does not exist.; ERROR (92): Timeout during database update -- the operation has been accepted by the server and will usually complete successfully; servername.xxx.yyy:5000 ONC/RPC call timed out]} ........................ when attempting to get plugin server information. Enabling api/sql logging shows GLEWF calls on the 'AR System Configuration Component' form not returning. Queries hanging due to recommended SQL Server database configuration not enabled.
This knowledge article may contain information that does not apply to version 21.05 or later which runs in a container environment. Please refer to Article Number 000385088 for more information about troubleshooting BMC products in containers. Check and verify the SQL Server Configuration settings are correct: PARAMETERIZATION is set to Simple. READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT is enabled. If these need to be changed the below SQL statements will help to do so: 1- Stop the AR system application. 2- The DBA needs to run the following in the Database: ALTER DATABASE ARSystem SET PARAMETERIZATION SIMPLE ALTER DATABASE ARSystem SET READ_COMMITTED_SNAPSHOT ON 3- Restart the AR System application.
