Post Fresh Installation of 2020 R1/R2 OR Upgrading from an earlier version to 2020 R1/R2, severe performance related issues faced while accessing the BMC Database Automation (BDA) Interface.
Additionally, following Errors can be seen in the MiddleTier.log file under /app/clarity/dmanager/var/log/ directory on the BDA Manager:

[WARN] GA.MiddleTier.Ops.Sync.GetProductAlerts (pid: 28769 - line: 284 - file: GA/MiddleTier/Ops/Sync/GetProductAlerts.pm) Failed to get token for fetching product alert
[ERROR] GA.MiddleTier.Ops.Sync.GetProductAlerts (pid: 28769 - line: 112 - file: GA/MiddleTier/Ops/Sync/GetProductAlerts.pm) not a reference
[WARN] GA.MiddleTier.Ops.Sync.GetProductAlerts (pid: 28769 - line: 84 - file: GA/MiddleTier/Ops/Sync/GetProductAlerts.pm) Can't use string ("0") as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in use
The Product Alerts feature introduced in 2020 R1 is unable to make the API calls, causing delays in performance. This has been logged as a Defect, which has not been rectified yet in the current version of the application.
As the Product Alerts feature makes API calls out to the Internet, if the BDA Manager does not have Internet access, following steps can be taken to Disable this feature, which ideally should improve performance.

Workaround:
  1. For 2020 R1 only: Download the attached Hotfix "2020_R1_HF3.zip" and refer the README.pdf from the extracted contents to apply the Hotfix. Once Hotfix is applied, refer following instructions.
  2. These instructions can be directly followed if you've Installed/Upgraded to 2020 R2: Browse to /app/clarity/dmanager/etc/ directory on the BDA Manager.
  3. Take a backup of the d2500_config file and then edit it using command similar to the following:
vi d2500_config
  1. Add a line in this file similar to the following:
product_alerts_disabled=true
  1. Save the file.
  2. Restart the following Services on the BDA Manager in the given order:
service postgresql restart
service httpd restart
service mtd restart
service dmanager restart

Now, once you log back in the performance related issues should not be experienced.
